Mauritania’s national crescent-sighting committee has announced that Jumada I 1448 will begin on Tuesday, 13 October 2026, after no sighting was established on Sunday evening.
In a statement following its 11 October meeting at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Traditional Education, the committee said it had contacted the country’s regions and carried out the necessary checks without receiving evidence confirming a sighting.
