Mauritania's Directorate General of Health Services for the Armed and Security Forces discussed military health cooperation and exchanges of expertise with a German defence ministry delegation on Monday, 12 October, according to a statement issued by the Mauritanian army.
The meeting took place at the directorate's headquarters and was chaired by its director, Colonel Mohamed Mahmoud Taleb Jiddou, a pharmacist. The German delegation, led by Lieutenant Colonel Friedel, also attended a presentation on the service's responsibilities, organisation and role in providing health support to the armed and security forces.
On 6 October, Defence Minister Hanenna Ould Sidi had received a delegation from Germany's defence ministry in the presence of the German ambassador and the health service director. That meeting examined existing defence cooperation and ways to strengthen it, according to a separate army statement. The latest discussions focus on the military health component.
