Fuel trucks reached Mali's capital, Bamako, at dawn on Saturday, 3 October 2026, after travelling overnight under the protection of the Malian armed forces.
Malian media, citing the Directorate-General for Trade, Competition and Consumer Affairs, reported that the authorities began tracking the trucks and directing them to fuel depots and service stations after the convoy arrived, with customs officials and police taking part.
The convoy arrived as Mali faced disruptions to fuel supplies following attacks on fuel trucks and interruptions along supply routes, prompting the authorities to provide security for convoys heading to Bamako.
