Madar (Tunis) - Tunisia's next legislative elections are expected to take place in November or December 2027, the spokesman for the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE), Mohamed Tlili Mnasri, told the TAP news agency on Friday, October 23, 2026, on the sidelines of a meeting of the authority's council, Tunisian news site Webdo reported.
Mnasri said the legislative elections were a deadline known in advance and that preparations would begin on that basis. He did not give a precise date for the vote.
On municipal elections, he said there was still time to hold them before March 2027, but that they remained subject to a political decision. The single-round vote could be organised as soon as voters are convened, he said.
He said the legal, logistical and human conditions for the elections were in place, citing decree-law No. 8 of 2023 amending organic law No. 2014-16 of May 26, 2014, on elections and referendums, and decree-law No. 4 of 2026 on municipal councils.
At its October 5 meeting, the ISIE council reviewed preparations for upcoming elections, authorised the revision of regulatory decisions and approved its annual financial accounts, the outlet said.
