Madar (Tunis) - The Tunis Court of Appeal on Saturday, October 17, 2026, upheld a first-instance ruling sentencing businessman and political activist Khayam Turki to four years in prison and a fine of 200,000 dinars in tax-related cases, Tunisian media including Kapitalis and Webdo reported, citing a source speaking to Mosaique FM.
According to Webdo, the ruling was issued by the misdemeanour chamber specialising in financial corruption cases at the Tunis Court of Appeal, and the proceedings concern four tax cases.
The ruling follows another sentence handed to Turki by the criminal chamber specialising in financial corruption at the Tunis Court of First Instance: 14 years in prison and a fine on charges of money laundering and fraud, according to the same source.
Turki, a former leader of the Ettakatol party, has also been sentenced on appeal to 45 years in prison in the so-called "conspiracy against state security" case, the outlet said, noting that the rulings concern separate cases.
