Madar (Rabat) - King Mohammed VI on Sunday, October 18, 2026, approved Head of Government Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri's request to relieve the minister delegate for vocational training and qualification, Madiha Khayr, of her duties, according to a Royal Cabinet statement reported by Moroccan media.

The statement cited Article 47 of the Constitution without giving reasons for the decision, which came just two days after Khayr joined the new government on Friday, October 16.

The decision came amid controversy in Moroccan media over documents and allegations circulated after her appointment; the Royal Cabinet did not link that controversy to its decision, according to Hespress.

Born in Beni Mellal in 1975, Khayr has been a member of the Istiqlal Party's executive committee since October 2024, was elected MP for Beni Mellal in September and then became head of her party's parliamentary group. She was Istiqlal's only female member of El Mansouri's cabinet.

She previously served as secretary-general of the Mohammed VI International Academy of Civil Aviation and held posts at the National Airports Office.
