Madar (Rabat) - The president of Morocco's National Authority for Probity, Prevention and Fight against Corruption (INPPLC), Mohamed Benalilou, said the authority had referred 12 election-related files to the competent bodies, seven of which led to arrests following immediate interventions, the Moroccan news site Al Yaoum 24 reported on Sunday, October 18, 2026.
Speaking on Friday, October 16, in Rabat on the sidelines of the presentation of the authority's 2025 annual report, Benalilou said it had received 15 election-related complaints, all of which were referred to the public prosecutor, and had been informed of their outcome in real time, according to the same source.
He added that the authority had developed a dedicated application for handling election complaints and an electronic exchange platform with the prosecutor's office, saying it "was present and exercised its powers" during the vote.
According to Benalilou, the authority produced a report of about 200 pages on election integrity, issued a "voter's guide to fair elections", received foreign election observers and prepared an opinion on draft election laws even though they had not been referred to it, which it sent to the speakers of both houses of Parliament.
He stressed that the authority's work remained tied to its institutional remit and did not cover street polarisation or the exchanges of accusations that can accompany electoral competition.
