Madar (Rabat) - Members of Morocco's Royal Gendarmerie have dismantled a clandestine workshop making inflatable boats in the commune of Fdalate, Benslimane province, whose activity is suspected of being linked to irregular-migration networks, in an operation carried out on Saturday and Sunday, October 17 and 18, 2026, the Moroccan news site Hespress reported, citing its sources.
According to the same outlet, the operation was led by a unit of the judicial centre of the Agadir gendarmerie company. It led to the seizure of several inflatable boats ready for use, quantities of raw materials for making them, and equipment and machines, which were destroyed under the supervision of the competent prosecutor's office.
Three people, a Moroccan national and two nationals of sub-Saharan African countries, were arrested on suspicion of involvement in the workshop's activities, the sources said.
The sources added that the operation followed weeks of investigations into cases recorded over the past two months, coordinated between the motorcycle squadron, the Agadir gendarmerie judicial centre and gendarmes from Inezgane and El Kliaa. People arrested earlier in the same investigations, from sub-Saharan Africa, were placed in the local prison of Ait Melloul under the supervision of the prosecutor's office at the Agadir Court of Appeal.
