Madar (Nouakchott) - Meetings to review the reform matrix proposed by Mauritania and the World Bank for eligibility to the Prevention and Resilience Allocation opened on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Development in Nouakchott, the Mauritanian News Agency reported.

The ministry's secretary-general, Yacoub Ould Ahmed Aicha, said the meetings aim to produce a "realistic and integrated" matrix with technical and financial partners, stressing that mobilising resources under the mechanism depends on achieving results. He urged ministries to take ownership of the reforms and meet deadlines.

He linked the reforms to the 2025-2030 national strategy for consolidating peace and social cohesion, adopted by the Council of Ministers on December 31, 2025, which focuses on decentralisation, territorial inclusion, economic empowerment of young people and women, natural resource governance and the prevention of extremism.

The amount of the allocation Mauritania is seeking was not disclosed.
