Zouerate: government aid reaches 121 rain-affected families

Financial assistance being handed to affected families

Mauritania's government has provided cash assistance to 121 families affected by recent rainfall in the Tiris Zemmour region.

The assistance totals 6,050,000 old ouguiyas.

Rain caused material damage to dozens of households in parts of the region, particularly Fderik and the regional capital, Zouerate.

Floodwater also inundated roads and streets, preventing small vehicles from passing. Units from the Second Military Region intervened to transport stranded people towards Zouerate.
