Madar (Nouakchott) - The governor (wali) of Nouakchott North on Saturday, October 24, 2026, made field visits to the Dar Naim, Teyarett and Toujounine districts to follow the implementation of the region's clean-up plan, the Mauritanian News Agency (AMI) reported.

The visits covered several streets, main roads and junctions, where the governor checked on teams removing waste and clearing obstacles that block traffic or occupy public space informally, including at the "Dimi" junction in Toujounine.

The governor said the plan, now in its third week, sets aside every Saturday during its first month for cleaning streets, main roads and junctions, clearing informally occupied public space and cleaning inner streets not covered before. He called on residents to cooperate with the authorities in charge.

The mayors of Teyarett and Toujounine and the deputy mayor of Dar Naim said their municipalities were ready to help the plan succeed, stressing the need for coordination between administrative authorities, municipalities and residents to sustain its results.
