Madar (Nouakchott) - An international conference in Geneva on teaching Arabic to diaspora children paid tribute to the contributions of the late Mauritanian academic Dr Mohamed Lemine Mohamed El Moustapha to the Arabic language and linguistics, during a scientific session organised by the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) together with the Hamsat Sama international cultural organisation.
The session was part of the conference "Arabic for Diaspora Children in the Digital Age: Identity, Innovation and Artificial Intelligence", in which he had been due to take part.
Participants reviewed his academic career and contributions to language and literature, from his early study of Quranic sciences and Arabic to his doctorate in linguistics from the University of Manouba in Tunisia and his master's degree from a university in Fez. They praised his work in serving the Arabic language and defending its identity, stressing the importance of preserving his scholarly and educational legacy and passing it on to future generations.
