Madar (Nouakchott) - Mohamed Ould Bebbana, the minister of culture, arts, communication and relations with parliament, officially took office on Monday, succeeding former minister El Houssein Ould Meddou at a handover ceremony held in the ministry's meeting room.
Ould Bebbana, who had been Mauritania's ambassador to Qatar, took up his post late because of his delayed arrival in the country, which kept him from attending the new government's first cabinet meeting last Wednesday.
At the ceremony, the new minister thanked his predecessor for his work at the head of the sector and praised the ministry's staff.
Ould Meddou in turn congratulated his successor, wished him success and thanked the sector's staff for their cooperation and support.
