Madar (Algiers) - Algeria's non-hydrocarbon exports rose by about 10% to nearly $4 billion in the first eight months of 2026, Zohir Moussaoui, a central director at the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, said on Sunday, October 18, according to TSA and Algérie360, citing an interview he gave to Algerian Radio's Channel 1.

Moussaoui expects non-hydrocarbon exports to reach $5 billion by the end of 2026, the outlets reported, saying the challenge was also to sustain export momentum.

Algeria exported $213 million worth of agri-food products between January and August 2026, up 15% year on year, including chocolate, olive oil, biscuits, cheese, canned goods, margarine, sauces and spices, he said.

On Wednesday, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune pointed to weak repatriation of export earnings, saying "there is a malfunction", according to TSA. Hydrocarbon exports reached $37.5 billion between January and September 2026, according to Hydrocarbons Minister Mohamed Arkab.
