Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune received Niger's defence minister, General Salifou Mody, who is visiting Algeria at the head of a delegation. Several senior Algerian officials attended the meeting, according to a statement from the Algerian presidency.
The meeting followed talks between Mody and Algerian army chief General Said Chanegriha on developing bilateral cooperation, particularly in military and security matters. Both sides stressed the importance of strengthening coordination.
The visit forms part of defence cooperation between Niamey and Algiers. In late August, Algeria sent Sukhoi Su-30 fighter jets to support Niger's army at the request of its command.
