Mauritania's Ministry of Equipment and Transport has introduced 15 minutes of free parking in the main car parks at Oumtounsy International Airport, effective Monday, July 6, 2026.
The ministry said in a statement that the measure was intended to ease access to the airport and improve services for passengers, those accompanying them and people meeting arrivals.
It said it was also reviewing the parking fee structure in coordination with the National Civil Aviation Agency and Afroport, the airport operator. The new charges would be announced once officially approved by the civil aviation authority.
The ministry called on airport users to comply with the rules and instructions governing the car parks to keep traffic moving smoothly and ensure services operate properly.
