The Citizenship and Justice Front, known as Jamaa, called on the authorities to speed up an investigation into the killing of two young men from Baghdad village in Hodh El Gharbi, which it attributed to the Malian army, establish all the circumstances and take the necessary follow-up action.
In a statement, the party said citizens' lives and security must take precedence over all other considerations. It said good-neighbourly relations, managed responsibly and carefully, were a national priority provided they remained consistent with people's interests and security.
The front called for stronger security policies to protect border areas and their residents along all the frontiers shared with neighbouring Mali.
It offered its condolences and sympathy to the victims' families, prayed for mercy and forgiveness for the deceased, and wished patience and solace to the people of Baghdad.
The front said it had followed the developments with grave concern. It noted that some media outlets had reported an MP's statement about the killing, as well as an account by the victims' family spokesperson describing the circumstances and recalling that another young man had been missing for more than a week.
