Madar (International) - French President Emmanuel Macron said the authorities would take tighter security measures ahead of protests planned for next Saturday, reaffirming the government's rejection of the rioting that accompanied recent protests in several French cities.
Speaking at a press conference in Doha on Wednesday, Macron said the authorities would use their legal powers to protect public order. He announced a meeting on Thursday with security officials and the ministers concerned to assess the situation and follow the student protests that began on October 17.
Macron and his foreign minister also criticised what they described as the exploitation of the violence in France by foreign actors for electoral purposes, with Macron calling last Saturday's events "shocking and unacceptable".
