Two ministers seated at a meeting table in the Ministry of Health

Health Minister Tiam Tijane and the minister of Housing, Urban Planning and Land Development chaired a working meeting at the ministry on Thursday, 26 March, to review construction progress under the emergency programme for Nouakchott's development and the emergency programme to expand access to basic services for development in towns and inland regions.

A detailed technical presentation covered progress across the programmes' components. Participants reviewed completion rates, the challenges encountered and measures taken to address them. They also drew up recommendations to accelerate implementation and strengthen monitoring and evaluation.

The health minister stressed the need to meet deadlines and technical specifications, recalling the central place of the two programmes in the government's health policy.

The housing minister reaffirmed her ministry's commitment to maintaining an accelerated pace of work while ensuring construction quality and compliance with technical standards, in line with government instructions to speed up priority development programmes.
