Madar (Abidjan) - Ivorian prosecutors have charged and detained 12 people suspected of involvement in the killing of a gendarmerie officer in October 2025, in the run-up to the presidential election.
Abidjan public prosecutor Oumar Braman Kone said investigations led to the arrest of the suspects, including the man suspected of opening fire on a gendarmerie patrol on the Grand-Yapo–Agboville road, killing Lieutenant Danigo Klinon Lassina on October 20, 2025.
The charges include acts of terrorism, attacks on and conspiracy against the authority of the state, participation in an insurrectionary movement, disturbing public order and murder.
The proceedings follow the unrest that accompanied the October 2025 presidential election and left 11 people dead, according to official figures.
