Traore opens textile complex to boost local manufacturing in Burkina Faso

Burkina Faso's president, Captain Ibrahim Traore, opened the TEXFORCES-BF industrial textile complex at Logofourousso in Bobo-Dioulasso on 9 September, according to the presidency's account of the inauguration. The complex is intended to produce clothing and uniforms for the armed forces, security services and Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland.

The authorities present the project as part of their drive to expand local production and reduce reliance on textile imports, while supporting industrialization and making use of domestic raw materials.

Speaking to the press after the ceremony, Traore described the factory as a step toward greater reliance on domestic capabilities and ending the export of unprocessed raw materials. He linked development of the textile sector to the country's economic sovereignty.
