Nouakchott is hosting the exhibition "Colours of Mauritanian Memory", featuring 25 male and female artists, in an initiative to highlight the talent of Mauritanian visual artists and give them a space to show their work.
The organisers said they aim to support artists through training courses and workshops and to encourage them to develop their skills and explore new forms of expression.
One participating artist told Madar she is showing paintings inspired by the history of the city of Chinguetti, drawing on aspects of its cultural and historical memory.
The exhibition runs until the end of the month and is open to art lovers wishing to see the works and learn about the participants' experiences.
