Madar (Abeokuta) - Nigeria's Rangers International said on Monday, 19 October 2026 they had formally petitioned the Confederation of African Football (CAF) over incidents they blame on MC Alger supporters during and after the sides' first leg on Sunday at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, in the CAF Champions League second preliminary round, Channels Television reported.
The club accuses the visiting fans of destroying a stadium entrance gate, entering without paying, vandalising seats and other disorder. CAF has not announced any decision.
According to Complete Sports, Rangers asked for the return leg, scheduled for Friday, 23 October in Algiers, to be played behind closed doors as a precaution, and for MC Alger to provide adequate security guarantees for the visiting delegation and effective crowd control.
"We have confidence in the established processes of CAF and await its response," the club said in its statement, urging its supporters to remain calm.
Rangers won the first leg 2-0 with goals in the 84th and 87th minutes despite playing with ten men from the 13th minute. The winner on aggregate reaches the group stage.
